Hello there.

I'm Rachael. This is me.

This is my daughter Lena, aka L.

L came into my life when I was 20 years old, while I was still in college, and still a kid myself. This blog has been a lot of me reconciling me being a parent and trying to figure out who I am as an independent adult at the same time. (I'm probably making it a little more melodramatic than it needs to be, but hey, it's my journey.)

I'm starting my second year(!!) in a PhD program for genetics and genomics, and I love being a grad student. It's the first big decision I've done solely for me in a long time, and so far it's been the right choice. It's hard, but I love it.

I like lists, writing things, and thinking about what it means to be a parent. (A more extensive list of things I like can be found here.)

L likes chocolate chip pancakes, Dinosaur Train The Magic School Bus, gymnastics, running, picking up fish, swimming, archery, and Ninjago (but I'm not supposed to tell anyone that because that is a boy toy.)
